Johnny’s business card
A rare example of Johnny Harris’ business card sold on eBay on April 21 for $120 Cdn. The seller was in Vancouver. The card was printed somewhere between 1896, when Reco Mining & Milling Co. Ltd and Sandon Water Works & Light. Co. were formed, and 1911, when Star Mining and Milling Co. Ltd. was reorganized as Slocan Star Mines Ltd.
I have a copy of the same card and included it in the book on p. 73. I thought mine might be a one-of-a-kind survivor, but now I know better. There’s a cute story of how I acquired it. It showed up on eBay one day in 2021 with a Buy it Now price of $200 Cdn. While I was hemming and hawing over spending that much, someone else snapped it up. Darn.
Four months later, on Christmas morning, I discovered the someone else was my wife!
